Both the Triquetra and Trinity knots predate Christianity and were likely Celtic symbols of the triple aspects of the Goddess (Maiden, Mother and Crone) as well as the three domains of earth according to Celtic legend - earth, sea, and sky. Today these symbols are used in Christian symbolism as the representation of the concept of “three in one” in the Christian trinity belief (Father, Son, and Holy Ghost).
The Claddagh design dates back to the 17th Century, originating as a friendship ring from the village of Claddagh from where it draws its name. It has since become a beloved symbol of friendship, love and loyalty to the Irish people. We carry an array of traditional and modern Claddagh design on rings, pendants, earrings and necklaces.
An Irish legend relates that St. Patrick created the first Celtic cross by drawing a circle over a Latin cross to incorporate the pagan moon goddess symbol. Ornate, inscribed crosses were erected throughout Britain since the 7th Century and have become an important, modern icon of traditional Celtic roots.
